What to Expect on Your First Visit

Plan on a full appointment rather than a quick once-over. Most of the value happens before any treatment does.

  • Intake and a real welcome. Paperwork, health history, and a vitals check, handled by staff who will know your name the next time you come in.
  • A conversation, not a form. One-on-one time with your provider about your symptoms: what hurts, how often, how long, and what you are actually trying to get back to.
  • A full orthopedic exam. Posture, range of motion, and orthopedic and neurologic testing to find where the problem originates, which is not always where you feel it.
  • A plan built around your goals. What we recommend follows from what the exam shows, not from a prepackaged number of sessions decided before we met you.
  • Treatment the same day, where it is appropriate. If your case is ready for it, you start that visit. If it needs imaging or a different discipline first, we will tell you that instead.
  • Home care before you leave. Specific instructions for the days between visits, realistic for your actual schedule rather than an idealized routine.
  • No pressure at checkout. You leave knowing what comes next. There is nothing to sign up for and no multi-month package to commit to.

What to bring

  • Insurance card and photo ID
  • Referral information, if you have one
  • Any imaging you have had (X-ray, MRI, CT)
  • A current medication list
  • Payment for any copay

Worth doing beforehand

  • Book a time you can focus on the consultation
  • Think through what you want to get back to
  • Note the specifics: quality, frequency, duration
