The flexion distraction table is a specialized mechanical table that creates decompression in your spine, specifically the lumbar spine. Spinal traction helps to reduce disc herniations by creating a gentle suction-stretch with the discs as the table moves up and down. The distraction helps the herniation suck back in towards the center of the disc and rehydrates the disc by sucking in the surrounding fluid.

Even if no herniation is present, this traction technique can safely move the spine in a therapeutic way to alleviate pain and take pressure off the lumbar spine. This is a great tool to use to conservatively and non-invasively treat disc herniations, or also use in conjunction with PT, chiropractic adjustments, steroid injections, or even a microdiscectomy to help reduce the inflammation in the injured area pre or post these procedures.

Tight muscles around nerves can cause issues such as Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. TOS is a syndrome that causes constriction and compression of the nerves of the brachial plexus by the pec muscles leading to numbness, tingling, and weakness of the upper and lower arm. Release of the muscles that compress those nerves helps to restore normal function and alleviate the numbness and tingling in the arm and hand.
