Dr. Christeen Perkins

Dr. Perkins is looking forward to joining the Accelerate Health team. As a fellow University of Western States graduate she is excited to work alongside like minded practitioners focused on treating patients as a whole and not only a set of symptoms. Dr. Perkins works to provide the best possible care for patients in office as well as educating patients to care for themselves between visits. She believes there is healing power in patients playing an active role in their health care journey.

While attending UWS Dr. Perkins found an affinity for treating expecting and postpartum mommas. This passion lead to advanced training in the areas of prenatal, postpartum and pediatric care. Further improved through clinical experience Dr. Christeen is proficient in Webster technique for pregnant patients, helping rebuild spinal stability in postpartum patients, as well as reducing tension, improving nursing abilities and assisting proper motor development in pediatric patients. Dr. Christeen thoroughly enjoys assisting your whole family on their journey to better health.

Before starting her journey as a chiropractor Dr. Christeen was a professional horse trainer. It was through her experience with chiropractic as an equestrian she began to learn how beneficial chiropractic can be. Continually impressed by how quickly she would recover after a fall and how chiropractic care would improve the performance of her equine teammates, she decided it was time to learn more about this avenue of health care and pursue a career as a chiropractor.

As a new Denver resident Dr. Perkins looks forward to getting outside and loves suggestions from patients about must see adventures. With a love of hiking, camping and spending time in the water she feels Colorado will be an excellent home for her to explore and one day raise a family of her own.

Dr. Brittany Downing

Dr. Brittany Downing, DC

Coming from a family of physicians spanning the spectrum of healthcare, Dr. Brittany Downing always knew she wanted to be in medicine, but wasn’t sure which avenue to take until she was in a car accident in college.  Her motor vehicle collision left her with severe neck and back pain that didn’t improve until she visited a chiropractor. Thanks to the tremendous care she received from her chiropractor, she made a full recovery, and was inspired to pursue the path to becoming a chiropractic physician.

After receiving her Bachelor of Arts and Science in English Literature with minors in both Chemistry and History from CU Boulder, she went on to study chiropractic medicine at the prestigious University of Western States in Portland, OR. In addition to UWS’s curriculum, she has attended additional training to further her clinical expertise in Graston TechniqueWebster Technique, functional medicine, the Neurovascular Institute and the Motion Palpation Institute. She is also a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) and fulfills continuing education credits with them yearly. Due to her experience with her own car accident, she has attended multiple seminars to enhance her skills for personal injury documentation and is also a Level I Worker’s Compensation accredited chiropractic provider. Dr. Downing also holds a Level 2 Dry Needling certification.

From early on in her practice, she developed a special interest in offering prenatal chiropractic care. Being able to help women understand the changes their bodies go through during pregnancy and help to alleviate the common complaints associated with pregnancy has truly become her passion. Dr. Downing also specializes in postpartum and pediatric chiropractic care. As a prenatal chiropractor in Denver, Dr. Downing works closely with birth centers and mommy groups in the area and is proud to be so closely involved in this wonderful community.

Along with offering prenatal chiropractic care in Denver, she offers nutritional consultations to help work on the body from the inside out, restoring balance and systems homeostasis along with decreasing inflammation. This approach helped her with her own neck and back pain from her car accident.  Her personal experience with recovering from a traumatic car accident has given her a deeper understanding for her patients, both physically and emotionally, who are undergoing the same traumatic experience.

When Dr. Downing’s not in clinic, you can catch her at the yoga studio or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.  Brittany found yoga during chiropractic school and feels grateful that she discovered something that continually helps her grow physically, mentally, and spiritually.

As a Colorado native, Dr. Downing is thrilled to be the new co-owner of Accelerate Health in Denver. She is looking forward to becoming even more involved in the Denver community and making a difference through her healthcare profession. Alisha Dawn McKenzie

Alisha Dawn McKenzie has always been attuned and fascinated with the human body and is a strong believer in the power of bridging the gap between mind body connectivity. Her continuing education always inspires her passion to seek opportunity to apply therapeutic relief and to help the people she connects with, be inspired toward their personal wellness in getting back to what they love to do! Her heavy background in dance and the performing arts has made her keenly aware of the stressors that can develop overtime in the body. From a young age she studied at the Denver School of the Arts with a background in the Performing Arts where she majored in vocals and minored in dance. In her 8th grade year, her Anatomy teacher asked a massage therapist to come into class, to better illustrate how everything is connected and works together. From the minute the therapist spoke she felt a resonance within and from the exercises that were demonstrated, she practiced on her friends, classmates and at times instructors and directors. All responded welcomingly and graciously. From there she continued work in the performing arts, then went into the service industry until the last 4 years where she decided to attend the Colorado School of Healing Arts to receive her license in massage therapy. There, she passionately studied Myofascial Release, Sports Massage, Deep Tissue and Swedish. After graduating from CSHA she found her skills leading to all things concerning myofascial and how to better engage and balance the tensile structures of the human body. Ardently following the belief that it is critical to foster an environment of safety, trust and honest communication so that growth happens on a deeper level.

Before her enthusiast partnership with Accelerate Health, she worked at Hand and Stone and CSHA Professionals Clinic. Alisha also enjoys volunteering at Health and Sports related events doing chair/massage and taking webinars in continuing education to advance her passion for soft tissue manipulation. Â Apart from her renewing work in massage therapy she very much enjoys listening to music/comedy, going on very lengthy walks in nature, reading, cooking her Blue Apron dinners, practicing Tai Chi, practicing Ariel, and working with horses for her further interest in Equine massage.
