Meet Our Providers

Dr. Brittany Downing - Owner

Coming from a family of physicians spanning the spectrum of healthcare, Dr. Brittany Downing always knew she wanted to be in medicine, but wasn’t sure which avenue to take until she was in a car accident in college.  Her motor vehicle collision left her with severe neck and back pain that didn’t improve until she visited a chiropractor. Thanks to the tremendous care she received from her chiropractor, she made a full recovery, and was inspired to pursue the path to becoming a chiropractic physician.

After receiving her Bachelor of Arts and Science in English Literature with minors in both Chemistry and History from CU Boulder, she went on to study chiropractic medicine at the prestigious University of Western States in Portland, OR. In addition to UWS’s curriculum, she has attended additional training to further her clinical expertise in Active Release TechniqueGraston TechniqueWebster Technique, functional medicine, the Neurovascular Institute and the Motion Palpation Institute. She is also a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) and fulfills continuing education credits with them yearly. Due to her experience with her own car accident, she has attended multiple seminars to enhance her skills for personal injury documentation and is also a Level I Worker’s Compensation accredited chiropractic provider.

From early on in her practice, she developed a special interest in offering prenatal chiropractic care. Being able to help women understand the changes their bodies go through during pregnancy and help to alleviate the common complaints associated with pregnancy has truly become her passion. Dr. Downing also specializes in postpartum and pediatric chiropractic care. As a prenatal chiropractor in Denver, Dr. Downing works closely with birth centers and mommy groups in the area and is proud to be so closely involved in this wonderful community.

Along with offering prenatal chiropractic care in Denver, she offers nutritional consultations to help work on the body from the inside out, restoring balance and systems homeostasis along with decreasing inflammation. While having developed her own anti- inflammatory protocol, she also uses ALCAT food sensitivities testing with tremendous results. This approach helped her with her own neck and back pain from her car accident.  Her personal experience with recovering from a traumatic car accident has given her a deeper understanding for her patients, both physically and emotionally, who are undergoing the same traumatic experience.

When Dr. Downing’s not in clinic, you can catch her at the yoga studio or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.  Brittany found yoga during chiropractic school and feels grateful that she discovered something that continually helps her grow physically, mentally, and spiritually.

As a Colorado native, Dr. Downing is thrilled to be the new co-owner of Accelerate Health in Denver. She is looking forward to becoming even more involved in the Denver community and making a difference through her healthcare profession. Music is also a large part of his life, which was fueled by an early introduction to percussion that has continued to fascinate him decades later. He was an avid soccer player in his youth and enjoys just about everything sports related.

Peter Choo

Dr. Peter Choo joins the Accelerate Health team after graduating from Life Chiropractic College West in Bay Area California Summa Cum Laude and as his class Salutatorian.  He received his undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in Biopsychology from Kalamazoo College in Michigan.

His passion for chiropractic began at an early age, when he grew up down the street from a prominent chiropractor in his hometown of Midland, Michigan. Inspired by his ability to help people achieve a greater state of wellness, that chiropractor helped set Dr. Choo on his path.  Before pursuing his chiropractic education, Dr. Choo lived in Denver, CO for seven years working for the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and later the Denver Veteran’s Administration Hospital doing schizophrenia and lung cancer research.  Chiropractic combines Dr. Choo’s passion for neuroscience and physiology, with his strong desire to provide a more meaningful and immediate impact on people’s lives.  He feels his previous career in research gives him a great understanding of how best to integrate chiropractic and allopathic medicine for the optimum benefit of the patient.

Prior to launching his career at Accelerate Health, Dr. Choo worked at Athens Chiropractic clinic in San Carlos, CA under the guidance of Dr. Nicholas Athens.  Dr. Athens was the San Francisco 49ers team chiropractor for many years.  In addition, the location of the office near Stanford University and Cal Berkeley has allowed Dr. Choo the unique opportunity to work with elite athletes from the NFL, Division I college level, Olympians, professional golfers, etc.  In addition, as a family-based practice Dr. Choo has worked with patients of all ages from pediatrics to geriatrics and is excited to bring this experience to Accelerate Health.

Outside of the office, Dr. Choo maintains a number of diverse interests that help balance his well-rounded outlook on life.  He is an accomplished musician, playing the violin and the piano from the age of four and six respectively.  Despite his classical training, he enjoys a very eclectic taste in music and loves to see live performances of all varieties.  He is well-traveled having been to all 50 States, Europe, Asia, and North Africa.  While in undergrad he studied abroad in Bonn, Germany and maintains a conversational fluency in German.  He grew up playing soccer and football, and continues to enjoy playing sports for recreation to this day. Finally, he enjoys getting out into the natural beauty of Colorado on hikes, camping trips, and snowboarding during the winter.
